Bunnings Cessnock

Overview:

KCE were contracted to complete internal and external civil works and road works for the Bunnings project on 4ha of industrial land at Cessnock. This project also incorporated the creation and subdivision of an additional 5 industrial lots.

Scope of work:

  • Substantial bulk earthworks and rock excavation
  • Site preparation for building pads, carparks and drainage
  • Car park kerb and pavement construction for 200 new carparking spaces
  • Upgrade to Vincent Street including a new roundabout and road access to the proposed store
  • Relocation of live utility services

Highlights and challenges:

  • Due to the age of existing infrastructure and required design, relocation of several live utility services was required, including overhead power, three water mains, extensive gravity sewer and sewer rising mains, Telstra cables and work around existing gas services
  • The roundabout was constructed under traffic using portable traffic signals and construction in two halves
  • KCE and Drayton Construction were commended on the overall high quality of construction and presentation of the works handed over to Bunnings. This created further opportunities to continue our positive working relationship with Bunnings on further projects
