KCE were contracted to complete the civil works for the $110 million range and base upgrade to the Lone Pine Army Barracks in Singleton.

Scope of work:

• Construction of new gravel and asphalt roads, carparks and building areas
• Preparation of hard stands for amenities, water tanks and other facilities
• 70 000m3 of earthworks to rifle ranges
• various construction of new training ranges for assorted artillery, grenades and special weapons

Highlights and challenges:

• Flexible works program to cater for military training schedules of an operational facility and procedures restricting access to certain sites
• Multiple scattered sites in the vast area of the Range
• Interaction and coordination with multiple trades and contractors
• Strict compliance with No Go Zones including unexploded ordinance (UXO) from previous land use and carefully managed plant movements
• Zero LTI or notifiable incidents
